This all-American baking class will guide you through three distinct styles of pie that celebrate seasonal produce and American baking traditions. Firstly you will get to grips with creating perfect pie pastry for a classic double-crusted Apple Pie with a traditional woven lattice crust and end with an understanding of modern sweet pastry and a variety of pie fillings!
Techniques you will learn:
The Upper Crust - our tutor will guide you through various styles of sweet pastry with distinctive flavours and textures. You will gain understanding of sweet pastry-making essentials that will transform your home baking and eliminate any fear of sweet pastry.
Farm-to-Table - you will be immersed in the old-fashioned American farm-to-table approach, as you will learn how to adapt various seasonal fruits into a flavourful and perfectly-cooked pie filling.
Tender-Touch: our tutor will explain the principles to achieving a tender-set custard filling, which holds the key to many American classics from Pumpkin Pie to Key Lime Pie.
Photo-Finish - you will conquer old-fashioned techniques of adding decorative detail with your pastry, whether it’s a traditional woven lattice top or a picture-perfect crimped-edge pie crust
Full recipes, including ingredients list and method, are provided for you to take home to add to your repertoire so you can keep on cooking them time and time again:

What you can take home:
There is a tasting session after each class where you have the chance to sample the tutor's version of each dish. Don't forget to bring something to take your food home in, we will provide all other equipment and ingredients.
Tea and coffee are provided throughout on all of our classes.
